Abstract We study the selective and robust time-optimal rotation control of several spin-1/2 particles with different offset terms. For that purpose, Pontryagin maximum principle is applied to a model two spins, which simple enough for analytic computations sufficiently complex describe inhomogeneity effects. find controls are respectively described by singular regular trajectories. Using geometric analysis combined numerical simulations, we determine optimal solutions problems. Selective can be derived analytically without optimization. show optimality standard mechanisms in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, but new also designed.
